As an expert in tax evasion history, I’ve seen countless examples of individuals who believe they’re above the law. The recent case of Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, is a prime example. According to a CNBC report, Hunter declined an invitation to testify in public as part of the House Republicans’ impeachment inquiry into his father.
Abbe Lowell, an attorney for Hunter Biden, cited a scheduling conflict with one of Hunter’s ongoing criminal cases as the reason for his refusal. However, this refusal raises questions about the transparency of his financial dealings and potential tax evasion.
Lowell’s dismissal of the public hearing as a ‘planned-for-media event’ and an ‘obvious attempt to throw a Hail Mary pass after the game has ended’ does little to assuage these concerns. If anything, it only fuels the fire of speculation and suspicion.
It’s important to remember that tax evasion is not a victimless crime. It deprives communities of much-needed funds for public services and infrastructure. It also undermines the integrity of our tax system and the principle of fairness that underpins it.
As we continue to follow this case, let it serve as a reminder of the importance of complying with tax laws and the severe penalties faced by those who choose to evade them. Remember, no one is above the law, not even the son of a president.
